Holistic Focus Encourages Student Self-Assessment
As a registered nurse with 27 years of clinical experience, one thing I truly enjoy is the variety of questions that students present. My work is more interesting because of the constant variety of research that I am doing. As I help the students learn, I also keep up-to-date with the latest trends in practice. I also try to encourage students to analyze their actions and decisions. I have found that when the students know why they should practice in a certain way, they are more satisfied with their performance.

"I focus on two priorities with every nursing student. The first is information literacy. I like to help the students learn how they can find information that they can use. The second is critical thinking. I want the students to begin to think in a critical and holistic way, and to assess and evaluate all of the factors involved in patient care."
