What Do I Get?

Live help! Thanks to your professor and Houghton Mifflin, you'll be able to "drop in" for live online help in the subject area of your textbook during peak study hours (see chart once you log into your SMARTHINKING account) and submit questions anytime, for a response usually within 24 hours.

Special Services for English and Writing Students - You'll get live help if you have any grammar questions or need help brainstorming for a paper. You'll also be able to submit papers** to our popular Online Writing Lab, which will provide you with detailed feedback on how to improve your paper. How Time is Deducted From Your Account

Once you've set up your SMARTHINKING account, you can check how much time you have used in the "my account" tab of your homepage- Use it wisely! Here is how tutoring time is deducted:

Live drop-in sessions: "Metered" to the minute of time spent working with a tutor plus 5 minutes for administration.
Submitted questions: 20 minutes.
Online Writing Lab: Submitted essays or career writing: 35 minutes
Pre-scheduled sessions: 35 minutes (30 minutes spent working with a tutor plus 5 minutes for administration.

Important: Once you have used all of the time allotted to you based on the new textbook purchased from Houghton Mifflin, you can buy additional tutoring time directly from SMARTHINKING. Information on regular SMARTHINKING rates can be found here.
